Salary: $100,000 - $145,000/year. Negotiable and commensurate with experience.

CHESS Engineering is seeking a highly motivated individual who is seeking to further their career with a fast-growing land surveying and civil engineering firm. CHESS Engineering has an immediate opening for a professional civil engineer position. The full-time position offers flexibility in that the candidate can work out of our office in Lowell and remotely.
This position is a management position suited for a candidate with a civil engineering bachelor’s degree and a civil professional engineering (PE) license. The candidate must have experience managing civil engineering staff, preparing proposals, maintaining project budgets and the technical expertise designing civil engineering land development projects.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
Position is a project management position. Manage multiple projects, write proposals, develop estimates and budgets, prepare invoices and be the point of contact for clients
Design of site layouts, grading and drainage plans, stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment controls, and utilities
Provide direct charge supervision overseeing technical office staff. Work closely with other departments on multi-disciplined projects
Train and develop junior civil engineering staff; provide annual performance reviews on level of skills and productivity of staff
Represent clients at public hearings for permit approval
Required Skills:
Expertise with AutoCAD Civil3D and HydroCAD or other similar stormwater modelling software
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
Management ability with direct reporting staff
Ability to create or modify civil engineering templates and design criteria
Organization and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail with ability to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner
Required Experience/Licensure:
Massachusetts Civil Engineering Professional Engineer license (PE) required.
10+ years of total civil engineering experience with 2+ years as a licensed PE.
2+ years of project & staff management preferred
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
Physical Requirements:
Some site work may be required:
Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces
Lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds
Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time
Availability for public meetings on nights after 5PM
