CHESS Engineering is seeking a highly motivated individual who is seeking to further their career with a fast-growing land surveying and civil engineering firm. CHESS Engineering has an immediate opening for an intern position. The intern position will work with our land surveying and civil engineering team.

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

• The candidate will work under the direct supervision of senior staff

• Perform property research including deeds, easements, utilities, local by-laws and regulations, zoning data, assessor’s data and plans, FEMA and other data relevant to the performance of the assignment

• Assist with survey fieldwork 

• Draft CAD plans of land surveying and civil engineering construction projects

Required Skills:

• Strong math skills

• Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D 2021, Leica Captivate or similar programs such as Carlson Survey is a plus

• Attention to detail with ability to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner

• Organization and excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required Experience/Licensure:

• The ideal candidate will be a civil engineering or land surveying student however other similar or related majors will be considered

Required Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• Currently enrolled bachelor degree students in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering preferred. Degrees with a strong math background will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Use basic hand tools

• Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces

• Lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds

• Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements

• Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time

No. Candidate will be expected to work in the field in various locations throughout Massachusetts. Office responsibilities will primarily occur in our office in Lowell.
